Noaa-2 aka ITOS-D is a very old decommissioned Satellite launched in 1972. Almost 50 years after launch it was discovered that it was still transmitting a modulated signal!

So I waited for a nice pass, took my helicone antenna and recorded the pass. The satellite transmits at 1697.5 MHz and the signal looks like a wideband version of APT.
For decoding I used a script by Xerbo. I got the following image:

Zooming in on the right you can see synclines like in NOAA APT. The dark areas would have been earth imagery, but those instruments are long off.

You may note that the image is quite short. This is because NOAA-2 transmits in bursts, likely due to the power system being old. It’s about 30 seconds of data and 1-2 minutes of silence.
